Joomla Updater

One of the Open Source content management systems (CMS) that we recommend is called Joomla! We like it because its secure, stable, extensible, good to design for, and open source. Being Open Source means it reduces costs and business risk.

Recently Joomla! released a major new update - from 1.5 to 2.5. 2.5 constitutes a major reworking of the underlying framework and much else besides. However, most users don't care about these facts, and why should they! They just want something that works & is easy to use.

When you log into the Joomla administration backend, Joomla "dials home" to check if you're running the latest version. Extensions (or components as they're known in the Joomla universe) can also check.

Updating your website is then just a simple button click. However, a wise precaution is to always backup your website before any updates. The excellent Akeeba backup component will do this automatically - so we recommend you use it.

So, this is just one way that the new Joomla 2.5 eases the task of keeping your Joomla! website up to date and secure. It's another good reason to recommend Joomla! to our clients.
